HEY GUYS  TODAY I WOULD BE TALKING ABOUT ONE OF A SUPERSTITION WHICH I THINK MOST OF US PRACTICE OR SAY AND THAT IS "KNOCKING OF WOOD OR TOUCHING WOOD ". Knocking on wood , or to  touch wood , refers to the  apotropaic  tradition in  western folklore   of literally touching/knocking on wood, or merely stating that you are doing or intend same, in order to avoid " tempting fate " after making a favourable observation, a boast, or declaration concerning one's own death.  TOUCHWOOD OR KNOCKING OF WOOD,WE SAY THIS PHRASE MOST OF THE TIME WHENEVER WE ARE TALKING ABOUT OUR NEARBY THINGS TO HEART BASICALLY OUR ACCESSORIES ! BUT WHY TO BE FEARED ABOUT THAT GUYS? WHY TO FEAR FROM PERSONS .................................. THE REASON FOR SAYING THIS MOST OF THE TIME THAT WE FEEL SECURED ABOUT OUR THINGS LIKE NOW NO ONE WILL AFFECT IT ETC ETC ... BUT THIS IS A REALLY NONSENSE FEAR GUYS.NO ONE WILL DO ANYTHING WITH YOUR THINGS . SO GUYS TRY TO SAY NO TO THIS PHR

SUPERSTITION AND PSYCHOLOGY

Image
Guys now I would like to tell you about the superstition and psychology: In 1948, behavioural psychologist  B.F. Skinner   published an article in the   Journal of Experimental Psychology , in which he described his pigeons exhibiting what appeared to be superstitious behaviour. One pigeon was making turns in its cage, another would swing its head in a pendulum motion, while others also displayed a variety of other behaviours. Because these behaviours were all done ritualistically in an attempt to receive food from a dispenser, even though the dispenser had already been programmed to release food at set time intervals regardless of the pigeons' actions, Skinner believed that the pigeons were trying to influence their feeding schedule by performing these actions. He then extended this as a proposition regarding the nature of superstitious behaviour in humans. Skinner's theory regarding superstition being the nature of the pigeons' behaviour has been challenged by o

SUPERSTITION AND RELIGION AROUND THE WORLD

Image
Greek and Roman  polytheists , who modeled their relations with the gods on political and social terms, scorned the man who constantly trembled with fear at the thought of the gods, as a slave feared a cruel and capricious master. Such fear of the gods was what the Romans meant by "superstition" (Veyne 1987, p. 211). In his  Prelude on the Babylonian Captivity of the Church ,  Martin Luther  (who called the papacy "that fountain and source of all superstitions") accuses the popes of superstition: "For there was scarce another of the celebrated bishoprics that had so few learned pontiffs; only in violence, intrigue, and superstition has it hitherto surpassed the rest. For the men who occupied the Roman See a thousand years ago differ so vastly from those who have since come into power, that one is compelled to refuse the name of Roman pontiff either to the former or to the latter. [8] ” The current  Catechism of the Catholic Church  considers superstit

BLACK MAGIC-USELESS!

Image
Hey guys now today i would like to tell you about one practice that about lakhs of people believe on and even do in our country and that is "BLACK MAGIC!"but guys let me tell you it is the most useless practice and even I use to laugh when I use to hear the cases of people practising black magic in my locality. But what is this black magic exactly ? Black magic  has traditionally referred to the use of  supernatural  powers or  magic  for  evil and selfish purposes. With respect to the philosophy of  left-hand path and right-hand path , black magic is the malicious counterpart of benevolent  white magic . In modern times, some find that the definition of "black magic" has been convoluted by people who define magic or ritualistic practices that they disapprove of as "black magic". The influence of popular culture has allowed other practices to be drawn in under the broad banner of "black magic" including the concept of  Satanism  . While the

CASE STUDY

Image
Now guys let me tell you a story or I should say a case. Its starts like this: There was an old lady who lived with her son.her daughter in law and her 2 grandsons.Their family was poor but they lived happily. Her (lady's) son use to sell watermelons and if he use to get some time,he use to work on the farms. All was going well. But one day he got ill badly and the whole family was in a great tension. He (son) was almostly to die and the old lady instead of going to a doctor went to a tantric (a kind of priest) and spent her all the money from her home on him.But the result was clear.....his son died! She got badly affected by her son's death. Her daughter in law also caught fever and her grandsons were very hungry. Now guys you only tell me if the old lady had gone to a hospital to save her son then he would be alive or not ? And instead of doing that she went to a useless priest! And the result you can see yourself. Guys these superstitions are useless I will say this again an

THE BREATH-TAKING AWAY SUPERSTITIONS

Image
SUPERSTITIONS Was the topic we started with in beginning and now we are observing that the world is not developing because of them. But some changes has took place with the great help and contribution of our great social reformers like Raja Ram Mohan Roy,Ishwar chandra Vidyasagar,Swami Vevekananda,Baba Amte,Gandhi Ji Etc... But now I would like to project the light on some of the big breath-taking away superstitions practised earlier in India (and even now in some places) and made the people ESPECIALLY WOMEN bounded in the flames of fear. PURDAH SYSTEM By restricting women’s mobility, purdah results in the social and physical isolation of women. Lack of a strong social network places women in a position of vulnerability with her husband and her husband’s family. Studies have shown that in conservative rural Bangladeshi communities, adherence to purdah is positively correlated with risk for domestic violence. The restriction on women’s mobility limits their ability to acce

IS THERE ANY CURE FOR THESE SUPERSTITIONS ?

Image
Guys  We saw that there are so many wrong effects and beliefs in the mind of  people or I should say in this hectic world. These superstitions have made a person from a person to a puppet. He is always running towards the benefits and has become a puppet full of weaknesses. These superstitions are only the biggest cause of making the world spoiled. But the question is IS THERE A CURE ? the answer is YES! there is a cure a way so that we can remove the roots of superstitions and sow the seeds of happiness and joy all over the world. And to do so we have to : MAKE AWARENESS AMONGST OUR SOCIETIES AND ENCOURAGE THEM TO BE AGAINST THE PRACTISE OF THESE SUPERSTITIONS. MAKE THEM AWARE THAT THESE SUPERSTITIONS ARE THE BIGGEST CAUSE OF THE DOWNFALL OF A MAN AND THE WORLD TOO. TELL THEM ABOUT THE HARMFUL EFFECTS OF THESE SUPERSTITIONS. AWAKENING THE CONFIDENCE OF BELIEVING IN THEMSELVES AND ON THE GOD FROM INSIDE AND NOT FROM ANYTHING ELSE AND YES...STARTING COMMUNITY AWARENESS AMONGST

BRIEF DESCRIPTION ABOUT THESE BELIEFS

Image
Hey Guys yesterday we discussed about what are these superstitious beliefs and some of the common beliefs practised by people.Today i would like to describe more about these beliefs and i would give a brief explanation about some of them: 1) BLACK CAT CROSSING THE PATH: The  folklore  surrounding black cats varies from culture to culture. In  Great Britain , black cats are seen as lucky and are often given in token form to brides. The  Scottish  believe that a strange black cat's arrival to the home signifies prosperity. In  Celtic mythology , a  fairy  known as the  Cat Sìt h takes the form of a black cat. Black cats are also considered good luck in Japan. Furthermore, it is believed that a lady who owns a black cat will have many suitors. However in Western history, black cats have often been  looked upon as a symbol of evil omens , specifically being suspected of being the  familiars  of  witches , and so most of western and southern Europe considers the black cat a symb
